Carrying out the mission of proclaiming the Good News, along with educational, medical, social, and community development services among the poor and the marginalized.
We thank the Lord for enabling us – the CI.C –Palai Province Sisters – to help the people of our nation for the Twenty two years and we implore His blessings for the years ahead.
Just as God has chosen the small town of Bethlehemin Judea as the holy place for the birth of the Savior, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the small village of “Panjampatti” is the blessed land chosen by God with four young women for the origin of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception. On the soil of Panjampatti,on2nd February1899, on the feast day the Presentation of the Lord, four women-Visuvasam, Viagammal, Annammal, and Savariammalwere settled in the new house built by their own hands. He The house was named “AmalorpaviyinVeedu.”With the motto, Preaching the Good News to the Poor in Simplicity and Love, these humble women began a new chapter in the history. Though they had little knowledge of medicine, they went out in the evenings with a medicine box in search of the sick. Yet, the apostolic works of these simple, humble women bore abundant fruit. “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes” (Ps 118:23).

A Jesuit missionary priestborn in France appointed at Panjampatty. He was the one who raised the educational standard of our first mothers and sowed the seeds of educational service for poor and simple students. He envisioned that their lives should reflect the simplicity of the Holy Family, and it was he who shaped our congregation to emerge as an independent institute on this soil.Blessing them with the words, “May four become forty, and forty become four thousand; may the vineyard of the Church flourish and grow,” he laid the foundation for our Congregation to become a distinct religious body.

Message from the Provincial of Eugene Province Dear Sisters and Friends in Christ, With joy and gratitude, I warmly welcome you to the official website of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception, Madurai. This platform reflects our faith journey one rooted in the Gospel and inspired by the life and virtues of Mary Immaculate, our model and guide. Like Mary, we respond to God’s call with open hearts, finding joy in serving Him through our daily lives and ministries.
“Nourish him with the bread of understanding, and give him the water of learning to drink” (Sir 15: 3) “Education is one of the most powerful things in life. It allows us to find the meaning behind everything and helps improve lives in a massive way”. The education ministry of CIC started from the first teacher and Founder Fr. Augustine Pereira. His great effort of equipping the illiterate first four women to be teachers were great. Through learning to read and write the catechism lessons, they started to teach the people of Panjampatti in the Amalorpaviyin Veedu. “All I have seen teaches me to trust the creator for all I have not seen”. One of the major objectives of the CIC is to provide Catechetical instruction to girls and boys in schools and young women in parishes and to help them into mature men and women of deep Christian faith. To take full part in the life and ministry of the Church by devoting themselves heart and soul they are imparted education which helps to foster piety and commitment. The C.I.C’s Apostolate of Education reads as follows: The aim of all our educational efforts is to help Christian and young women attending our schools to acquire up-to-date knowledge and good habits so as to grow into mature persons, conscious of their responsibility as members and future leaders of our society.
